Automotive Service Technology is a two-year program for sophomores,juniors and senior students interested in the automotive field. The program is certified by NATEF / ASE (National Automotive Teachers Education. Foundation and Automotive Service Excellence, the organization that certifies automotive technicians) The course is taught to automotive industry standards. Students receive classroom instruction followed by hands-on lab activities using mock-up units and live work. The class is divided between classroom theory and hands on lab work dealing with some the latest computerized equipment. Dual college credits are available in this course with Vincennes University, University of Northwestern Ohio and Lincoln Tech automotive programs.. With the continually evolving complexity of the automoblie market we encourage students to attend post-secondary educational programs to further their education.
Upon successful completion of this course a student should be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the following:
- Advanced Automotive Electrical and Electronics Systems
- Engine Fuel and Ignition Systems
- Steering and Suspension Systems
- Advanced Brakes

Suggested classes to prepare for success in this course are applied math, applied science, and any technology education courses.
Certification:
(NATEF) The program is certified by NATEF (National Automotive Training Education Foundation) which administers the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification process.
Career and Technical Student Organization:
(Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills) Students participate in community service projects and various skill competitions through Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills. Through these activities, students develop leadership and organizational skills, team building, interpersonal communications, and enhanced technical skills.
