Skills learned in this popular SCC program include hair cutting and styling, pedicure and manicure basics, scalp and facial massage, facial waxing, and color and permanent waving services. First year students have the opportunity to work on mannequins (with real hair) and each other. Second year students have the opportunity to work with clients in our salon. Cosmetology students must complete 1500 hours of instruction to take the Indiana State Board Examination to begin a career as a licensed cosmetologist. Students must provide their own transportation to and from SCC.

This course provides an excellent opportunity for any student planning on pursuing a career or degree in any of the following areas:

• Hair Stylist
• Beauty School Instructor
• Nail Technician
• Manufacturer Representative
• Salon Owner
• Make-Up Artist

Certification: (Indiana State Beauty Board License) Students successfully completing the procedures and 1500 hours of required class time are eligible to take the Indiana State Beauty Board examination to become a licensed cosmetologist.
