Recently, 19 students competed at the State HOSA leadership conference in Indianapolis. Lanie Nicholson placed third in Dental Science and Blaklee Birge placed second in Researched Persuasive Writing and Speaking. Both students are eligible to participate at the International Leadership conference in Nashville, TN in June! Blaklee was also awarded a $8000 scholarship from Sullivan University. Your top ten finishers were: Kailee Baker (Dental Science), Daisy Hoevener (Clinical Specialty), Elanor Honnert and Brailea Kieffer (Health Education), and Hannah Sampson (Extemporaneous Writing). SCC is proud of all the students who competed!

The students have become the teachers! Recently, Work Based Learning and Criminal Justice students were able to learn some emergency first aid skills from Health Career Students! Students went to various stations to learn about: CPR, Shock, Bleeding, Splinting, Puncture wound/eye injuries, Heat Stroke, Poisoning, Dressing, Stroke, Burns, Cold exposure, and Nose Bleeds. This gave students the ability to know what to do when in an emergency situation.

The Southeastern Career Center hosted a blood drive! Students and staff rolled up their sleeves to save lives. It is amazing to see students showing up for a good cause. In total, 41 units of blood were collected potentially helping 123 patients! Well done SCC!!
